Every time I step into a company like GEODIS, I’m reminded that excellence is contagious. It doesn’t have to be loud or flashy. It shows up in the way people greet one another on a video call, the way they talk about customers, the way they lean in to learn.
I recently had the privilege of speaking to the GEODIS Emerging Leaders group for a session called Just Be Excellent Today. Their team was gearing up for peak season, which in logistics means long hours, heavy volume, and no shortage of stress. Yet what I saw was focus, unity, and an eagerness to grow.
The session was built around one simple idea. Excellence is not about perfection. It is about choosing to bring your best effort to this moment, right now.
I shared stories from my journey as an athlete and coach, lessons learned from mentors who challenged me to be better, and the power of mastering the small details. We talked about what it means to play your role, to set the standard, and to celebrate wins along the way.
What impressed me most about GEODIS was how quickly those lessons landed. The chat filled up with ideas, laughter, and honesty. People talked about how they were challenged to lead differently, how they wanted to bring that same energy to their teams. You could feel the pride in their culture.
Excellence, I reminded them, always starts at the top. But “the top” isn’t just leadership titles. It is every individual who decides to lead themselves well, to be prepared, to focus on what is right in front of them, and to finish strong.
I left that day with a deep respect for the GEODIS family and for the Emerging Leaders program that invests in their people. If this group is any reflection of the company’s future, they will not only meet the challenges of peak season, they will define what excellence looks like across the logistics industry.
